Our new pricing

Today we're announcing a significant change to our pricing for Hanko Pro: the price per monthly active user (MAU) has been reduced by 50% from $0.02 to $0.01 for all new and existing customers.

The "Grow, don't worry" auth provider

Using authentication providers may seem like a costly endeavor to some that can quickly get out of hand, but that's not the case with Hanko: our goal is to provide every project, no matter how small, with an extremely easy-to-use, powerful and secure authentication solution that is on par with what large account providers like Google or GitHub offer.

The only way to achieve this is to keep the cost of using Hanko so low that even small applications that are just starting out or hobby projects can afford to use Hanko — that's why we've made it our mission: don't be afraid to scale with Hanko.

The combination of 10,000 free monthly active users, which we announced earlier this year, and fair and industry-leading usage-based pricing of $0.01 per MAU over the free limit ensures that your app can scale without paying too much for your authentication provider. Also note that we only count active users, i.e. users who have actually authenticated to your app at least once a month.

A Cloud that scales well

We have invested heavily in our Hanko Cloud infrastructure this year to ensure that we can offer the best possible service, even for rapidly scaling customers. We have also paid particular attention to ensuring that our own infrastructure costs remain manageable for us and do not scale 1:1 with the number of projects and users.

Thanks to the cloud-native nature of the Hanko backend, we have succeeded in doing this very well and we are now passing this competitive advantage on to you, our customers.

Many users? Get volume discounts

As much as we want our service to be affordable for even the smallest projects and teams, the same is true for large customers. We know that some of you also have generous free tiers or are ad-supported — and therefore have a large user base, but only monetize a fraction of those users. Then Hanko Enterprise is for you.

If you already have or expect to have a large number of monthly active users (e.g. 100,000+), volume discounts are available as part of our Enterprise tier. Let's talk about your requirements in a call, join a shared Slack channel if you want, and you can get started quickly.

Hanko for startups: 1 Million users at no extra costs

If you’re a startup, feel invited to apply for the Hanko Startup Program to get 1 Million MAU for free as part of a Hanko Pro subscription, in addition to our support for all integration or authentication questions.

Simple migration between Hanko Cloud & self-hosted

And if that's not enough: as we are an open source project, you can decide to migrate from Hanko Cloud to self-hosted at any time. Currently with our help, but full self-service import/export will soon be possible.
